- In March 2022 City of Salamanca Mayor Sandra Magiera chose to appointment a Charter Commission to review and recommend changes to the City Charter.
- The Charter Commission had meetings almost every month until August 2023. Through the months there were many suggested changes made. The changes were mostly grammar and to reflect the current procedures of the City government.
- Any major changes will need to be done with approval of the Common Council through Local Law.
- The amended charter was proposed by the Charter Commission.
- A Local Proposition [Question] was placed on the Primary Election ballot for registered voters of the City of Salamanca to vote on at the November 2023 election.
- Once approved by the voters it went into effect January 1, 2024.
